Please note that we may take steps to verify your identity before granting you access to information or acting on your request to exercise your rights, as required or permitted by law.

The verifying process is as follows:

Once we receive your request, we may choose one of the two methods to verify your access and deletion requests:

(1) If you have a password-protected account with SF, we “may verify your identity through our existing authentication practices for your account" (i.e., having you log into SF account).

(2) If you do not have a password-protected account, there is not a specific manner in which we must verify your identity, but there are certain factors we must consider (such as the type, sensitivity, and value of the personal information collected about you). Generally, we must require that you provide at least three data points to be matched against PI we already hold about you, and you must provide a signed declaration that you are the consumer whose PI is the subject of the request. However, the Regulations provide some flexibility and may require that only two data points be matched.

You may designate an authorized agent to make a request in certain circumstances on your behalf. To do so, you must provide an authorized agent written permission to submit a request on your behalf, and we may require that you verify your identity directly with us.

Additionally, you may only make a verifiable consumer request for access twice within a 12-month period.

In some instances, we may not be able to honor your request. For example, we will not honor your request if we cannot verify your identity or if we cannot verify whether an authorized agent has the right to make a request on behalf of you. Additionally, we may not honor your request where an exception applies under applicable law.

We will endeavor to fulfill your request within 45 days of receiving that request. If we require additional time, we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.
